Flute and piano
player, composer and arranger Orlando Maraca Valle wrote
his first composition at the age of ten, a danzon for
flute and piano, which immediately made him a child
prodigy. Following his prestigious classical studies
at the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory and the Higher Academy
of Arts of Havana he began his career at the age of
16 as a flutist in the group of Cuban pianist Emiliano
Salvador then as flutist and keyboard player and arranger
for the Chucho Valdès IRAKERE group, with whom
he stayed six years. He composed and produced for albums
for Tata Guinès, before creating “Maraca
& Otra Vision" in 1996. Over the years he has
written and played for well-known artists such as Cesaria
Evora, Afro-Cuban Jazz Project, Orlando Poleo, Yumuri
y Sus Hermanos, Leyanis López, thus performing
on famous stages all over the world. Maraca is at the
head of two projects: Maraca & Otra Visión
and Maraca & Afro-Cuban Jazz Masters and will perform
at the Festival Latina with Otra Vision. This is an
ensemble of 12 musicians that covers a wide musical
spectrum and offers a rich repertoire ranging from Latin-jazz
to traditional Cuban music. It is renowned for its performing
qualities and the variety of music it masters. Discography
